At SmileBuilders, we want your visit to be as comfortable and stress-free as possible. We also understand that certain complications with finances and navigating the insurance marketplace can be confusing and add undue stress. For that reason, we have taken the time to give you the most relevant information about our finance options and explain the insurance process. If this page does not contain answers to your questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to our office!

Insurance Information

For your convenience, SmileBuilders accepts most dental insurances. While our staff will work with you and help guide you through the insurance process, please remember: SmileBuilders is not responsible for how your insurance company handles its claim or what benefits they provide. We can only assist in estimating your portion of the cost of treatment. We cannot guarantee what your insurance will do with each claim.

About Your Insurance

Payments Due at the Time of the Visit

On the day of your or your child’s treatment, we will collect your owed portion for the treatment. We then process the insurance claim on your behalf and collect the remaining balance directly from your insurance. If your insurance does not allow direct payment to our office or won’t verify their fee schedule, you are responsible for paying the entire balance.

Reimbursements

We will then direct the insurance company to reimburse their portion of the payment to you (within 3 to 6 weeks of treatment). You are responsible for discrepancies between estimated insurance payments and actual insurance payments received. You will be credited for any excess insurance payment.

Changes to Your Benefits

Please notify us of any changes in your benefits, as we verify your benefits when you become a new patient. We will not assume any changes have been made unless we are notified. It is the patients’ responsibility to know their benefit status.

SmileBuilders cannot be held responsible if patients exceed the maximum benefit limit. Our goal is to maximize your insurance benefits but remember: insurance is often a supplement or aid to making payments for dental health treatments, not necessarily complete coverage.

Facts to Remember About Insurance

  • NO insurance pays for 100% of all treatments
  • Your benefits are NOT determined by our office
  • You should always consider deductibles and co-payments when filing a claim

Financial Information

Payments

We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. We also offer Care Credit, an 18-month interest-free payment option. If you have any questions or concerns regarding payment, our staff members are happy to assist you.

Please Note: checks returned for insufficient funds will result in an additional $50 fee to your account.

Broken Appointments: a $50 fee will be added for any broken appointment. A broken appointment is considered an appointment that is not formally canceled 24 hours before the scheduled time unless a circumstance arises that is beyond your control.

Pediatric & General Patients

After we review your treatment plan with you, our front desk staff will assess the cost of the proposed treatment. If you have dental insurance, we will provide an estimate for the amount of coverage and out of pocket expenses you can. All co-payments for insured patients and payments for uninsured patients are due at the time of your visit unless you’ve made arrangements with our staff beforehand and we receive a written and signed agreement.

Orthodontics Patients

At SmileBuilders, we work with you to maximize your orthodontic coverage. While many insurance companies do not cover orthodontics, our staff will work with you to establish a payment plan that facilitates the treatment you need. We do accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover.

After we review your treatment plan, we will then analyze the cost of the proposed treatment. If you have dental insurance, we will go over your estimated coverage and expected out of pocket expenses. We offer a variety of payment arrangements from which you can choose.

Once you’ve decided which plan is best for you, you’ll be asked to sign the appropriate agreement and log your credit card or postdated checks on file. All payment plans must be completed and signed BEFORE treatment.
